Frank Tidikis believes in preserving our estuary

Meet Frank Tidikis

Although Sewall's Point is a small town, we do not always have an opportunity to meet our neighbors. This brief bio will highlight my background.

Frank and Judi Tidikis married for fifty-two years

Who is Frank Tidikis?

I am a Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran who has spent his professional career in healthcare. I hold an undergraduate and graduate degree in business from Temple University. Our family relocated to Florida in 1981 while I oversaw the construction and later managed the Medical Center at Delray, a trauma center in Palm Beach County. I later became a regional and then a divisional vice-president responsible for 22 hospitals across the southeast. After leaving the hospital sector, I was involved in several other health care and small business ventures before retiring.

My spouse, Judi, also a Temple graduate, and I have been married for 52 years and have been residents of Martin County for 29 years. We have been blessed with three children. Dana, John and Adam, and five grandchildren. We moved to Sewall's Point in 1995 because of the unique environment of our community. It is a small town with caring neighbors and an excellent police force which employs the philosophy of community policing. Our waterways are a blessing and deserve to be maintained in pristine condition, which hopefully with the latest Lake Okeechobee Discharge Plan will continue to improve. It had a town government which listened to the residents and was responsive to their needs.

Although retired, I have stayed active in various civic organizations such as SCORE, Treasure Coast Chapter 308, where I mentored local businesses and conducted various workshops. I have served as the treasurer of Chapter 1041 of the Vietnam Veterans of America and the Veterans Council of Martin County.  I had the opportunity to serve as a board member of the United Way, Martin Volunteers and the Lyric Theatre. I am currently active with the Martin County Taxpayers Association. I also served on the Sewall’s Point Board of Zoning Adjustment from 2015 until resigning in June of 2024 to run for the Town of Sewall’s Point Commission.

My background of working in diverse environments, applying business principles and financial discipline will complement the Board of Commissioners. I have the ability to listen to diverse opinions and synthesize them into a coherent, cost-effective plan that is driven by data and facts. I believe in transparency and citizen involvement.

I firmly believe that we must be good stewards of our environment and that we have an obligation to our children to leave our world in a better condition than we found it.

I support the Road Resiliency Projects because they contribute to cleaning the water runoff before it enters our waterways. However, as our town engineer stated, it will not eliminate flooding during hurricanes, major storms and king tides.

I do support the Low Pressure Sewer System along South Sewall's Point road because it has the potential to eliminate septic tank overflows during periods of flooding.

I do not support imposing sewers on the balance of the peninsula of South Sewall's Point for several reasons: (1) There is no empirical evidence that higher elevation properties in Sewall's Point are polluting the St. Lucie River and the IRL (2) The State of Florida and the Department of Environmental Protection have outlined a less costly alternative in the passage of HB 1379. Please see the section on Transparency for more information on the ramifications of HB 1379. I believe a government should be responsive to the citizens it serves and seek cost effective solutions.

I will only seek  to serve one term because I’m concerned with the large amount of Project Dollars the current commission is committing us to incur. Given my experience, especially in business and with the MC Tax Payers Association, I intend to do the best that I can to change the current trajectory of spending. I believe my leadership can help move the town to be more fiscally responsible.
